Frequently asked questions
Is my data uploaded anywhere?
No. Expensator has no backend. All data — expenses, receipts, budgets — lives only on your iPhone. See the privacy policy for details.
How do I back up my data?
Use the Export screen to generate a CSV or PDF of any period and email it to yourself or save it to Files. We don't currently support iCloud sync.
Receipt scan didn't capture the right amount.
Hold the phone steady and make sure the total line is clearly visible. The scanner reads on-device using Apple Vision; if it picks the wrong number, you can tap the field and correct it before saving.
How do I change the currency or VAT rates?
Settings → Currency for the display currency. Settings → VAT rates to manage VAT presets per country.
I lost my phone — can I recover my expenses?
If you had iCloud Backup enabled for the device, restoring the backup to a new iPhone restores Expensator's local data along with it. Without a backup, the data on the lost device cannot be recovered (we don't store it).
Refund or subscription questions
Subscriptions and refunds are handled by Apple. Manage them at apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions or request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
